I am wondering if I really need a longer scope on my 22-250.  I am using a 3-9 Zeiss conquest right now on a Tikka light T3.  My varmit definition is such as coyoets bobcats and crows.  Looking for an opinion as to whether the longer variable scopes like 24x or 32x on the high end are more useful for mainly target shooting at the range or am I missing something by not using one in the field.

thanks

Hello Coyotecaller for a 22-250 and small target shooting the 9x is low.

You would be better off with a 16x or max x24 and you will be able to

extend your distances of shooting on very small targets.

I would agree with that, especially for crows at long-range.

thanks for your input....now I am trying to decide between these 3 scopes

Nikon Buckmaster 4.5-14

Nikon Monarch 4-12

Burris fullfield II 4.5-14

think I will do some scope swapping between my rifles and put one of these on my Remington 788 22-250 and move its 3-12 Signature Select to my lightweight Tikka in the same caliber....Just need to decide between these.

thanks

i would not recommend you putting a scope on your 788 with a higher power than 4 for the lowest setting cause coyotes and cats are very sneaky, i have had them close enough i could hear them breathe course when they are that close looking down the barrel is your only optic choice then so the choices you listed i would feel comfortable with and all three are nice the monarch has better glass than the other two as i own one of each of those three.
