Hi,

I don't use binoculars often - so not a lot of experience.

I was recently given a pair of Selsi 10X50 binoculars / 5.3 degrees. There were no instructions included. There's a center focus wheel and a right eyepiece adjustment.

What I'm finding is that without my glasses (bifocals, mostly needed for reading at my age), the center focus for close in to infinity focus falls in the about 30 degree range (eyepiece bridge all the way out at closest focus) - 30 degrees less at the farthest distance. This seems narrow when the total rotation of the center wheel is ~ 360 degrees.

And the right eye focus is best with the eyepiece adjustment at the plus extreme (right eye piece fully extended).

Have not had 10X50s before and other binoculars with less magnification and smaller objectives seem to have more degrees of center focus range and the right eyepiece not at it's extreme.

Can't complain for free, plus they do focus. Was just curious if this has to do with the design, my eyes, or both.

Thanks for your time!

Hi Pete,

It is not at all uncommon for someone new to binoculars to ask questions that don’t make sense to those who are being asked those questions. I want to help, but I really don’t understand your question. Your comments about degrees are confusing to me. Could you make another stab at it?

I'll hold any more explanations until the OP pops up again.
