Well I have learned a bit this season already.
1. Deer like soybeans better than clay peas. 2. Aphids like clay peas better than soybeans. 3. Eagle RR soybeans are worth every penny when it comes to taking care of weeds. 4. I don't need to disc the dirt very much. Just knock down everything, spray it, and broadcast. I found some chicory planted, and the deer seem to eat it. I planted a bag of whitetail institute power plant, and I am waiting to see how it does. I can see the peas and the sunhemp coming up, not sure about the other stuff in it. I did plant some clover too, so I am waiting to see how it does. So far, the only field a see a lot of traffic on eating wise is the Eagle RR one. Put out some 0-20-20 fertilizer which seemed to help. Next time I won't plant in the spring unless I spray the field with roundup first. |
