That's a good price. I have had that scope for a year or so and it has done very well, espeically given reasonably compact size and modest price.
I thought it was a good deal at $800 or so, but at $550 it is a steal.

Mine has held up very well so far in the tracking, holding POI, great glass categories during the 300 rds of use on my CTR. It is very impressive, and yes, I was surprised.

Damn. I think you are trying to tempt me. I need to pick up another 6x42 SS since I ended up turing mine over to a friend a while back.

For us that have never used an Athlon of any kind, please enlighten me.
I have a Bergara HMR Pro in 6.5 Creedmoor that I plan on shooting at 1000 yds and needs some glass. Anyway, What can you tell me about this scope such as clarity through all power ranges, etc....how does the glass compare to a VX3i, VX5, Vortex Viper PST Gen I, and Vortex Razor Gen 1 ? Does the turrets track well like my SWFA SS 20x ? Any info is helpful! Eagle

I tested a comparatively early 4.5-27x50 Ares BTR. The turrets tracked well. Feel was decent. Optically, it was a touch better than Gen 1 PST, but not as good as Gen 2 PST which is closer to Ares ETR. I had the Ares on a bunch of different rifles and it finally ended up on a re-stocked FN PBR in 308Win. It is on the right in this picture below. ILya
