I need help please. I have a DB10EMLB 308 with a full flattop rail and am having a very difficult time finding a scope mount that works. I have tried the Vortex recommended by the manufacturer and it does not fit over the rail. I have also tried the Nikon Tactical P2 (which Nikon said would fit) and it also did not fit over the rail. I need to get my scope mounted. Can anyone please help.
Thank You |

What exactly do you mean by "fit over the rail"?
What scope is going on it? Most of my ARs wear American Defense Recon mounts, but there are many good mounts for getting a scope on an AR. |

The mount will not fit onto the rail. The "V" groove on both are too narrow to accommodate the width of the flattop rail. They fit over the beginning (tang) and the stop due to not being wide enough to fit over the rail. Standard installation for scope mount for MSR with flattop rail. Not sure who makes one wide enough. The rail is factory.

Which mounts have failed, exactly?
There is a pic rail spec, and most of the good mounts have adjustment in lockup width due to slight variations in actual width. The ADrecon mounts I use have a small screw on the side opposite the locking lever that can increase or decrease tension to lock, accommodating some variability in rail width. Additionally, most bolt-on mounts like the SWFA or Aadmounts should do fine with a rail that is either barely within or barely beyond spec. Pictures also help. But, in the end, we should be able to point you toward a good mount with solid lockup. Last, what is your budget? Stuff ranges from about $50 on the low end to $400+ for the high end stuff (which, for me anyway, is almost never needed or justified.) |

I googled pic rail and I found its .835.... which is pretty close to what mine measured. I have a Vortex mounted with no issues

Thats just a standard AR. So it will have a stardard AR picatinny rail. I think you are just having an issue with not opening the adjustments up far enough. I have two different types of Vortex mounts. 2 of the ones made by Seekins, and 1 of the cheaper ChiCom ones. Both work fine and just need to be opened up. You can take the screws clear out on both of them, so unless something is seriously wrong with your rifle they should work.

Thanks for all the help. The first one (Vortex), the base had been damaged somewhere before the store got it. After looking at it, there was a crack thru the base that seemed to be causing the alignment issues. The only one the dealer had, so it was a no go. The Nikon was one solid platform (no width adjustment at all) and for one that was not cheap but not real high end either, that was disturbing.
Finally found one this morning while out getting a few things. Works real good, mounts solid as a rock and fits scope like a glove. Of all things, was shopping for some things for auto and went into sporting goods and they had a Weaver Tactical. Built well and the price was pocket change. Checked it on Weaver website and they state over $100 for it. Funny, same product, model number and all for $28 at, of all places Wal-Mart. Would have never thought to look there for the mount. Anyway, thanks for all the help. I really appreciate it. Thanks Again |

With some scope rings you have to remove the cross bolt entirely to allow the ring to slide onto the picatinny rails then when in position replace the cross bolt.

thanks for the information. But I had already tried that as removing the cross bolt is actually one of the things I do whenever I put a scope mount on any of my rifles. Do appreciate it though as there are probably a lot of people who don't know about that. Thanks again.

I had a similar problem, but on a different model. I also did not understand why this was happening, but I consulted with my uncle (he is an experienced shooter) and he helped me solve it. It would be nice if you would send a photo for a better understanding of the problem. But I can tell you one thing, contact an experienced shooter, they always know what to do LOL. I also advise you to review the manufacturers, and pay attention to others. I use US Optics and am very satisfied. From them, I set myself a device to protect from the tilt of the sight, which fit perfectly. And now I am very happy and started shooting quite accurately. I wish you good luck and resolve your problem as soon as possible.
