Hello,
I just bought a tikka t3x .223 rifle and am looking to mainly target shoot with this rifle and do some small game hunting. I have a max distance of 600yards and am looking for a scope with BDC reticles. I am looking for the scope to be in the 400-700 dollar range. Any recommendations??? Any help would be great, being new to the rifle optic market and all these options is very overwhelming. Thanks, Mike

Generally speaking, I would lean toward a mrad scale reticle of some sort instead of a dedicated BDC reticle. The 3-15x42 SWFA scope linked above is one of those.
You can use a mrad reticle as a BDC with minimum effort and it is very easy to adjust to different loads and conditions, especially if the reticle is in a front focal plane scope. If you want a bit more magnification and a tree reticle Athlon Ares BTR is a good option: If you would rather have a simpler reticle, the SWFA SS 3-15x42 is a really good way to go. ILya |

https://www.swfa.com/swfa-ss-hd-3-9x42-tactical-30mm-riflescope.html You have a couple of great scopes that have been recommended but I also like this one and while it is not as much magnification it is one of my absolute favorite scopes.

As others have said, I'd probably want a ~15x top magnification for out to 600yds.
Personally I'd go for a Meopta 4-16x44 with the Mildot ret

Pick a first focal plane scope with a mil dot based reticle Run a balistic chart for the ammo and caliber you use; https://www.jbmballistics.com/ballistics/calculators/calculators.shtml or buy a Kenton Ind knob for your scope http://kentonindustries.com/ you will be able to dial in correction or to choose to hold over for trajectory correction. As your distances get longer wind also becomes a big factor and you have to hold into the wind to hit the target or dial in the correction for windage at a known distance. A ballistic reticle on a second focal plane scope is usually designed to be accurate for hold over only at the highest power of the scope. In low light that is a problem becuse you have to dial power down to brighten the image. Second focal plane the reticle appears to remain a constant size while you dial power down from max while field of view appears more wide as power decreases. With a First Focal plane scope the reticle appears smaller at low power larger at higher power but in fact remains consistently true one mil always representing 1 mil no matter what power.
