Have any of you guys tried this new kind of lime on food plots? It's 14.50 a bag here for 50 pounds. It is pelletized, and 4 bags raise the PH on 1 acre 1 full point.
That has to beat a lime buggy, or getting the 4 dollar bags at a big box store and putting out 30 bags an acre. I just planted a little soybean field, tucked away where I hope no one finds it. Put a bag on it. Gonna see what happens, if anything. I may put some out on a couple fields once we plant this year.

When I get home, I'm going to have to start preparing a food plot. The place I used to plant has completely grown over... I'm going to have to run the DR over it... before I can bush hog it. That pro cal sounds like a very good start for getting it in shape. Thank you for the info.

I am going to see if we can put some out at the hunting club this year when we plant. If not, then I may spike a field or two and see what happens. I think we could lime every field we plant and raise the PH one full point for about 1500 bucks. I think that would make a drastic improvement. I didn't see a deer in a green field after bow season. I watched them skirt the field and not eat any of it in favor of brown dead stuff in the powerline.
I used to have a DR. I had the classic, with the solid tires, and you can't get new ones anymore, and they were worn slick. But that sucker would pretty much cut down anything you could get it to go over. I would love one of the new ones, or a Billy Goat kind. Oak trees were the worst. A pine tree was no problem what so ever. If I had a bobcat with a forestry cutter on it, I would be dangerous. |

I would get us kicked off our lease with the timber company with anything like that. I would cut roads, new fields, you name it.
If I thought I could make a good living clearing with something like that, I would buy one and quit my job.
