I paid about the same for mine. They are crazy good. Wish they'd come out with an 8x42 HD. It would be amazing in low light. My 8x32's outperform any of my hunting partners 42mm binoculars in low light.

Dang, where was I?? That's screaming bargain. Like I need another binocular.
Good info ST, maybe they will do the same with their rifle scopes. We'll see what wrings out.

I strongly recommend staying away from thermal (or generally digital sights) where instead of having an eyepiece, you are looking directly at the LCD screen.

You do not want your eyes adjusted to looking at something that close to while shooting.

Generally, the price of thermal sights is not coming down as quickly as I would like, but if you want something in the $2k range, look at FLIR Thermosight.

Koshkin,

I agree on the price front. I would like a decent handheld thermal spotter for something less than ~$2k

:(
Was sure I had a point when I started this post...

Ilya,

So an example of one where you are looking directly at the LCD screen would be the Sig Echo 1?

I've looked at the FLIR Thermosight PTS223, which seems like a very capable entry level 1.5x thermal scope with 2x and 4x magnification.  With only 320x256 resolution, you can see antlers at around 100 yards and still usable on 2x digital zoom but hogs become shapeless on 4X.  Price point around $2199 isn't bad in comparison to others.

I bought one of these back when they were on sale - https://swfa.com/armasight-2-8x25-predator-336-thermal-imaging-weapon-sight-178300.html.... its on backorder but I'm anxious to get some time with it.  I've been using a ND-3 currently to curb a coyote population and hoping this will make it much more better. That's the same basic sight as the FLIR mentioned above. FLIR bought Armasight and they are consolidating product lines.
