Picked up a NIB Schmidt Bender Hungaria 3-12x50 L3 reticle. I have really got into S&B scopes the last couple years. But I don't know much about these and can not find much on the internet. It appears they are the same components as the German scopes, just assembled in Hungary. Do any of you know more than that ?

I compared it to my other two Klassik 3-12x42's yeasterday and it seemed about the same. One of the 42's looks better in daylight slighty than the other two scope. But the Hungaria 50mm definately edged out the other two at dark yesterday, in my backyard at least. It looked very clear and had good low light performance.

I assumed the L3 was the same as the L7 but with a dot instead of a cross, but the thick subtensions are actually closer together like an A4 fine. Suprised me but looks good for hunting.

S&B has a factory in Hungary.

Leica has a factory in Portugal.

They own the factories and control the quality.

That's not the case.

S&B also owns a lens manufacturer in Hungary that supplies lenses for all S&B scopes, including those made in Germany.

Thanks guys! I was just curious if the quality was the same, it definately appears to be. It was such a good deal, it seemed almost too good to be true.

some folks have a fit about them being assembled in Hungary....just like some folks had a fit about some Zeiss products being assembled in Hungary.... until they started assembling them in China....
