My children love to view things from on water when we are in our boat.

I am looking for something that is durable that is easy to get behind and that doesn't cause eye strain and is pleasing to the eyes.

I am looking to spend less than $100 each at max $200 each as they could end up going for a swim...(not the intention but always a possibility.

I am thinking fairly lightweight as they are 10 yrs old are 54" tall and weigh about that much 55lbs... skinny and scrawny...

Thank you!

Sorry for my abandonment of this forum I am fairly busy lots going on in life...Still get on from time to time...

...and make sure that it is the 6x, not the 8x or 10x. Binoculars are not like trucks, bigger is not always better.

Boats move.  6x is better for that environment.

There is a reason so many navy/maritime binoculars were 6x or 7x.

6x Leupold Yosemite would get my vote.  They are very, very hard to beat anywhere near that price range.

Kowa YF is just slightly better. They are made at the factory where Yosemite was originally made. Leupold moved production elsewhere and they got a touch worse.

I agree about a 6x30 Yosemite, and I have both the older and newer Leupold models,

and they are identical optically, that means it does not matter which to get.  "A touch worse"

I don't know about that.

I also have a 8x30 Kowa on loan to my neighbor.  A smiliar clone.  All nice optics.

Better late than never???  Big Grin

Oberwerk 6.5x32

Smallest, lightest, and least-expensive binocular.
Yet it's waterproof, has BAK4 prisms and is fully broadband multi-coated.
Offers the widest IPD range on the market making it the perfect childrens binocular but adults love it too.
Low 6.5x power offers very steady hand-held viewing with huge 8° FOV.
I prefer Porro prism binoculars especially those made in Japan. (i.e. Minox BD 10x44 BP) 8>)

Used the Green Ring Leupys back in July the boys loved them wouldn't stopped looking through them even learned how to check out girls with them...j/k

They loved loved loved them.

Now I just have to find them we un packed them with the rest of the stuff and haven't seen them since. Hope to find them again soon.

They worked well i was shocked that $100 could get them something that spectacular.  Thank you ALL!!!

Thank you for all the recommendations!

Sorry to be so absent.

All input sincerely appreciated.

My son also loves to explore the aquatic world. We usually rent a yacht for the weekend at miami boat rental and go to the ocean. My husband is very good at managing a yacht and my son is very interested in how it all works. It seems we have a young sailor growing up lol. Now they are even trying to dive into the depths and explore the underwater world. Try something similar with your children. As far as I know, you can rent a boat from them and use the services of a person who will manage it. Believe me, it will be an unforgettable experience for your children and they will really like it.
