I am looking for a cost effective 22LR scope with a 30mm tube.

I would love to have a 3-12 or a 4-16.
.
.
BTW, I have a Larue mount in 30mm that I would like to do.  If I can't find a cheap scope in 30mm, then I need to find a cheap mount with quick release and a scope with 1inch tube.

I have a FFP 4-14X44 mil/mil scope that I got for 220 bucks for my .22. Is that cheap?

I am not sure what cost effective means to you, but SWFA is discounting their SS 3-15x42 with a SFP reticle for the Black Friday sale.  It has excellent close focus capabilities and a nice reticle.  I use one on my Airforce airgun, but it is also an excellent match for a precision rimfire.

Well, I can get a Primary Arms 1-6 30mm tube for $270 put it in my Larue clone mount and be good to go.
OR
I could buy a cheaper mount, AR-15 Tactical Quick Detach Mount AR-P.E.P.R. for $107.79 and Burris 3-9x40mm for $179 or like scope and be good to go.
OR
I need to  find a more cost effective 30mm scope.
.
I have a AR-15 and a 22LR conversion.  For the 5.56, I will use the Primary Arms 1-6 and Larue mount.  I will be swapping back and forth at the range.
.
.
,
.
.
The more I think about it, the
AR-15 Tactical Quick Detach Mount AR-P.E.P.R. for $107.79 and Burris 3-9x40mm for $179 seems like the way to go.

BTW, It looks like I can't edit my post.  I know nothing about the Burris 3-9x40mm OR AR-P.E.P.R..
There may be better options for that price range.

I love the 4-14X PA R-Grid reticle. Passes all my optic's tests, and has a huge amount of reticle+turret compensation.

So you want to run something like an LT 104 which is a $210. mount plus shipping and put a cheap scope on with loads of magnification. And to top that its for a 22 conversion kit for an AR where you will run one optic on the AR then switch the gun over to 22 and get as much 22 cal lead in your barrel as possible.   Why does this sound like a bad idea to me.
Let me suggest this.  I see the purpose of a 22 conversion kit as being a survival back up system for low volume use at relatively short range probably under 50 yds for hunting for food.  Buy a dedicated 22.

Urimaginaryfrnd,
Although I would rather take a dedicated 22LR and a 5.56 and a ... and something else and....
Conversion/upper is a practical issue.  I am stuck in hell where I can not easily load the vehicle and get to the range with multiple guns for an indoor sh*tty range.  If I can put it into one long gun case, it makes life easier.

(Of course I get to a real open range about once a quarter, so....)

I have had the conversion unit for a long time.  It is a Ceiner unit back when Ceiner was the only option.  With the right ammo, it doesn't lead up the barrel much at all.  I wouldn't suggest running a couple thousands rounds before going back to 5.56, but how I use it, I haven't seen any issues.  I am waiting for it to FTF, FTE, Accuracy decrease before I clean it so....several thousand rounds and no cleaning, no lubing...  (As a survival accessory, I always question it.  It isn't that accurate, but good enough for cheap plinking.)

I bought a knock off LR 104 with 30mm rings a while back.  I should have known the price was too good, but...  It isn't bad, but I wouldn't trust it if I REALLY needed it.    It should be fine for a 22LR scope until I break it (or I learn to trust it).  If I didn't have other Larue mounts, I might have thought it was real.

I don't consider 3-12 high power.  I have a cheap tasco 3-12 one of my other 22lr.  Heck a 3-9, 4-16....whatever.  It isn't like I am shooting really long distances, but want to be able to see the hold in the target without pushing the button to retrieve the target.  It only needs to be good enough to test my skills.

I have a dedicated upper also, but I haven't had it out to play.  No scope on it yet.

I am juggling scopes and mounts and I HATE taking a scope off a rifle after I have taken the time to work of a load, bench rest it, get everything sighted in and ....even if I am not going to shoot it for years.

BUT I took an old Simmons off a rifle  and bought a Burris QD 1 inch mount.  This will go on something.  Will move the 30mm scope to a new Larue mount.

If I keep gaining uppers and rifles, I will have to buy some more mounts and scopes.    What a horrible problem to have.  Bucky

RWBlue,  I've been on a quest for a several years now to find the most ideal 30 mm scopes for my three match 54 Anschutz rimfires.  I've vetted over 40 scopes of many brands and configurations with an emphasis on tracking, return to zero, and parallax.  I've run tests on all these scopes and have compiled the results on targets in three ring binders and the conclusions are revealing.  There were a good number of models that I would have loved to love, but in spite of having nice glass they did not yield the mechanical precision I wanted.  I was able to try many scopes because I have buddies who are dealers for Athlon, Sig, Tract, Vortex and Ziess.  I also tried quite a few Leupolds.

Long story short is I've concluded you just can't do much better than these three models:  SS 3-15x42 FFP, SS 10x42 MQ, SS 6x42 MQ.  This is especially true when you factor in what you get for the money you spend.

I particularly like the SS 3-9x42 with Mil Quad reticle.  I would probably select putting that on the rifle in a La Rue Mount or even a solid AADLAND mount etc, and leaving it there not changing scopes, then check zero for both 22 and for .223 and keep notes then adjust the scope as needed.  With a scope that had both reticle and adjustment in Mil's one can shoot one shot use the scope reticle to measure how  high or low and how far right or left then dial in correction and next shot should hit the X or very close.
