So which is just plain better? What would you buy if you had an ar without the right optic? Both are 350.00 right now with the ssalt mount on the sale ending the 11th i believe?

If it were my ass on the line, it would be the SS. Mainly because it has an MRAD reticle with MRAD turrets vs the BDC reticle (which may or may not work with your ammo and barrel length) in the Vortex.

I've not used the Strike Eagle . But I have the 1~4 SS Classic on my 6.5 Creedmoor carbine . It is incredible. The quick range finder is intuitive, precise , and fast. Even for a myopic old dart like me , precise on game range finding only took a couple seconds . Litterly . 2seconds. Since it was only mid range . Later lasered at 360 yards. My estimation from the reticle was 375. I held on the reticle for my drop and dropped the caribou. Then swung on another. Ranged him at 300 . Held just below the bottom of the diamond and down he went.
Honestly if they had both been foxes it would have been just as quick and easy . Or coyotes or wolves ect. Everything in the reticle . Nice and fast . No extra movements required on my part. Even tho it is 4power max mag . It is a 500 yard hunting etc scope. . The illumination is imo perfect not too big but big enough with an off position between the reostat settings.
You are being watched.
