I need some help deciding on which Sako Optilock mounts I should use. I already have the Sako Optilock 2 piece bases and Medium rings to Mount a 50mm Leica ERi. I did more research and found that Sako offers the 1 piece Low Optilock Ringmounts. Should I return the 2 piece Sako Optilocks and get the 1 piece Sako ringmonts? Will the 1 piece Low Ringmounts work for the 50mm scope? Thanks in advance for help!

Do the Opti Locs still have those crappy soft, allen head screws?
If at first you don't secede...try..try again.

Seems the major knock on the OL's is the weight, and nowadays they are pricey.  I've had optilocks on a Tikka 695 for well over 15 years now without a hiccup.  I like them.

I had the ancient Sako mounts years ago.  They were good, except a little clunky-looking.

I don't know about the 2-piece OptiLocks, but the 1-pc OptiLock "ringmounts" have Torx screws. I like the OL ringmounts a lot, yet absolutely detest the 2-pc OLs. I like the fact that both use the self-aligning ring inserts, but I see no legit purpose for the 2-pc system when the sleek, simple ringmounts are available. Definitely buy the OL ringmounts if you're choosing between the 2 systems. I never understood the logic behind Sako creating a separate base when the receiver has integral dovetailed grooves, totally eliminating the need for a base. Fewer parts is always better. The 2-pc OL's are clunky, way too high, ugly, unnecessarily heavy, and very expensive. At one time, they had really soft cap screws as Mark mentioned, but that may have changed. At least the current ringmounts use quality Torx screws. The OL ringmounts, on the other hand are sleek, available in appropriate heights, are very sturdy, and look great.

If you don't decide to use the OLs, Talley makes nice mounts for it. They do involve a separate base, but their base is small and streamlined. The Leupold ringmounts are also nice.
