The scope is not going to work so well on 40x in my opinion.  I would pick a lower power scope myself.  I have different scopes ranging in power from 2-10 to 3-24s and have had both the 3-15 SS, 5-20 SS and March 3-24s out to 1200 yards and the 5-20 and 3-24s out to 2000+ yards.  I personally don't see a need for a 40x scope.

My boss has a 40x IOR on his 50 call, and as nice of a scope as it is, I don't use it on 40x due to how dim the image is.  It is clear, just dim due to a 56mm objective.

I have a Sightron SIII 10-50x60 and love it for target shooting.  It does dim around 46 power which even the dimmer picture at 50 power is usable for target shooting.  Nothing like having a match stick fill up the sight picture at 30 yards.  I have seen the Burris and its a great scope but I did not get to play with it much.
