Very interesting! I was intrigued by the new version of the 24-70 f/2.8... until I saw the price.

The 200-500 f/5.6 VR should make a great wildlife lens! I wish it was f/4, but that would add at least another $1k and more likely $1500...or more. According to the MTF data, this should be a very sharp lens!

Yeah,

Some nice new options there.

The 200-500 looks squarely aimed at the popular 150-600 competitors from Tamron and Sigma.

It looks like the Nikon should beat them in sharpness and without future body compatiblity concerns.  I wonder if the AF speed is good?  That is a really low price if it performs well.

If the 24 is sharp wide open, it is going to sell well too, I think.

I am sure the 24-70 is spectacular, and many pros will upgrade from the already great non-VR version, but that is a chunk of change for a mid range zoom there.  I bet a lot of advanced amateur photographers will be drawn to options in the 1.8 prime line as an alternative.

Hopefully the new release 24-70 will bring down the price of the older model.  I only have DX bodies but it would still be cool to have such a nice lens.
