hey, im trying to equip my new remington 700sps and i am very new to long range shooting, that being said im probably going to get a bushnell elite 5x15-40mm scope? and dont know what kind of rings to buy. Something affordable and decent. I will probably go with an EGW short action rail, but even unsure about that. anyhelp would be appreciated thanks!

EGW rail is a good choice, if your sold on a Picatinny rail.
Define...."affordable"?? Affordable...and picatinny rails and more over, "tactical" rings, rarely go hand in hand. Talley LW's are awesome rings for $40.00. Yer dun. Here's a short action Remington with a 40mm objective and the low Talley's. Welcome to Optics Talk.

hey thanks, and ya i should of wrote price range instead of "affordable" i jus meant 60ish instead of over 100$ but thanks. I dont like scope hunting when the scopes i want are 1000$+ and i wanna spend 600 max. Ill keep them talleys in mind though, also nice rifle cheap, what yardage do you shoot with your setup?

Oh, I shoot all the out to 100 yards or so when I feel froggy.
It's a lowly .223 Rem and I call her my truck gun. EGW rail and Seekins rings are nice and reasonably inexpensive.
