    Posted: July/31/2015 at 07:32

Hey all.

I'm looking in to purchasing my first rifle. Already decided on a CZ 455 American which I'll be using as a .22lr primarily (I'm not going to be swapping barrels all too often). I've been lurking on forums and asking around at the local gun club, but I'd really like a direct answer-

What brand of scope should I purchase?

I'm looking preferably at a scope which zooms at 3-9 or around that increment, so long range isn't so much a concern.

My main concerns are-

1. Quality. I want something worth the money I pay for that I won't have to replace because it broke or was made with glass so bad I couldn't see through it.
2. Accuracy. The rifle will be used mainly at the range and not so often in the field.
3. Warranty. I'd prefer something that, if it doesn't work as advertised or is broken when I receive it, I can return it without hassle.
4. Price. I'm not too fussed about price (I'd rather pay high first than have to purchase two products), but at the same time I want value for money.

Are there any scopes that you could recommend? Alternatively, is there anything you could recommend I stay away from?

Cheers,

--Ryan.

I have this on my CZ and I am very pleased with it. It also meets your requirements.

Vortex Diamondback HP 2-8x32 would be my recommendation.

Leupold mentioned above is a good option as well.

I just bought a CZ 455 thamhole varmint 22lr for Bench Rest shooting, with a Meopta Meostar 6-18x50 Z-plex, very accurate, I am very happy with the combination.

I'd put a 6x42 SWFA scope on it.  6x for a 22 at the range would be perfect, the glass is great (especially for the $$$), the price is reasonable at $299, and you won't find a better warranty and assistance than the guys at SWFA.

Another fun option would be the Vortex Viper 3-9x40, also $299, and great glass at that price, along with lifetime warranty and great customer service.

Keep in mind, that the CZ 455 has a fairly high bolt lift and the Vortex has a larger ocular bell than the Leupolds, and will require "high" rings for the bolt handle to clear. I have a Weaver 2.5-7x28 (sim. to the Leupold) in Warne 721 med. rings on my 455 Varmint and there's not much clearance.

That said, any of the above mentioned scopes would be good choices. Good luck, and I hope you like yours as well as I like mine.

10 shots, SK Std. Plus @ 50 yds.

A Nightforce works well on a CZ 455.  This is my Precision Trainer.
