I feel compelled to follow up because of an event that happened July 4th.
We were at the lake doing 4th stuff. I took the Trijicon to possibly view some pretty neat birds that appear when they care to show themselves. I'd heard that an osprey was nesting somewhere across the lake, some 350 +- yards from the dock. There are those who doubted I would get a frame of the big bird, however, there were lots of other things I could observe to further test the Trijicon on this overcast day. I got quite enough wave runners, boats and wake boarders... good enough for color testing, however, I already decided that color rendition was excellent so I decided to observe nature full time. While everyone else was going about their merry way there I was looking for an osprey others said was long gone. Making a long story short, finally, I saw wings. Three sets, two vultures, one -- OSPREY! Unmistakable light tan head and other markings left no doubt this was what I was looking for. NOw to follow it to the nest, if indeed it was anywhere within viewing range. About 25 minutes into watching this grand bird an odd event occurred that would be a huge bonus to all this observation. One of the vultures actually lit in a tree directly in my viewing preference... a 90 degree shot straight ahead on a cliff perhaps 150 ft above the waters surface (again about 350 yards away). While I was intent on his motive the osprey suddenly attacked the vulture! I mean attacked with full fury the osprey is known for. Claws dug into the vulture's upper back and I saw black feathers fly. The vulture readily gave up his position, the osprey circled and returned to the tree for a brief few seconds and then resumed his (or her) vigil over the area. The actual attack lasted no longer than 2 seconds, however, the visual was incredible. I saw detail - the osprey's tan head, multi shaded body, golden talons outstretched, dirty gray and black feathers flying against the dark green foliage of black oak leaves, then caught up with the osprey to see a full view of the tan and gold under side of his wings as he banked to re-assume his lofty status as emperor of this corner of his world. I thought for sure I'd see the osprey dive and retrieve a fish or snake, but it never happened. Too many people I suppose. All this to say that I am remarkably pleased with the Trijicon. As luck would have it I witnessed a show that I did not expect, in vivid, real color, very generous sweet spot and razor sharp rendition. Let me emphasize this was a very overcast day in North Alabama, and i spent several continuous hours of observation. No fatigue, strain or pressure. I'll keep the Trijicon. Wf |

Pretty sure those Trijicons are a pre upgrade Meopta Meopro (non hd)
with the addition of HD glass. The specs are almost identical. They
ought to be pretty good.

It wouldn't surprise me at all if it were a Meopta made product. Meopta does a surprising amount of OEM work for other brands, and as we've seen, their stuff is consistently first-rate.

Will take the Trijicons 8x42HDs and Meopta 10x42HDs out hunting this weekend and do some back to back comparisons.
