Since cataract surgery some years ago, I have had to wear bifocals because my intra-ocular lenses were set for longer-distance focusing. My eyes can't focus on items in the near field.
The question is: will I be able to see the reticle and compass in the binoculars if I get a set that includes these features? I will specifically be looking for marine binoculars.

I'm sure that many other binocular users are in the same situation and I hope that some folks can share their experience. Or, perhaps those with a better grasp of the physics would know if the human eye can see the reticle clearly even in my situation of having poor near-focusing. Thanks.

Yes, you will be able to the compass, The compass is set up in the second focal plane. You will do best when you do not wear your glasses while you use the binoculars.

Thanks 3-tens. Does that also hold true for the ranging reticle?

BTW, your signature reminds me of a John Prine lyric, "It don't make much sense that common sense don't make no sense no more."

The tag line is from the song Folks ain't got a sense of humor no more by Us two and him. It is a folk /gospel band from Marshall County. Tn.
