First, and foremost, thank you for a great forum!!!
A few years ago, I picked up a pretty nice pair of Hensoldt Wetzlar binoculars at an estate auction. They are in very nice condition, but missing the case. The problem is that the binoculars are locked into place, and do not swivel. The big plastic adjustment knob in the center of the glasses is incredibly tight. I do NOT want to do anything, at all, to damage the binoculars...not even one little bit. (As a life-long collector of Lionel trains, I have seen hundreds of Lionel items that were destroyed by a jack-leg repair guy...I don't want to be that guy who ruins these glasses!!!!) The glasses read Hensoldt Wetzlar Nacht-Dialyt 7 X 56 and a serial number of 578602. There are no other markings that I can find. I would like to get these glasses in operable condition. There is a small screw in the end of the swivel assembly. If I remove that screw, will I be able to free up the swivel assembly? Is there any other type of repair that I can do to make these swivel again? I'd also love to learn when these were made. Is there a website that I can check the serial number? Also, I'd like to know an approximate value. Again, thank you so much!!!!!

I prefer Porro prism binoculars especially those made in Japan. (i.e. Minox BD 10x44 BP) 8>)
