I am considering the purchase of the SWFA SS 3-15x42 scope. prior to doing so I would like to see the scope in person. I reside in Northern Virginia. Is there anyone willing to let me check out your scope first hand? Thanks

Ken

I don't know who would be reasonable driving distance from you.  I will suggest this buy it examine it closely and if you do not fall in love with it do not mount it just put it back in the box and ship it back to SWFA and either return it or exchange it for a different scope you thing you will like better.  Now after saying that I will tell you I don't have the 3-15 I have two of the 5-20x50 scopes and absolutely love them.  I have looked at the 3-15 and handled it and I have had most of the other models.  There are two different styles of knobs and the fixed power SS as well as the 3-15 use three hex screws to re-set the knob once adjusted.  The 5-20 the 3-9 and the HD 10x and 1-4 and 1-6 use a gear tooth style with one central screw on top, I like that better but I use my fixed 16x with its three hex screw set up all the time.  The HD models have exceptionally good glass but the glass in all of them is very nice much better than the cost would suggest.   Every now and then some of these pop up on samplelist where SWFA sells scopes they use as DEMO at a trade show or scopes that people trade in sometimes you can find very good savings on the samplelist and if the scope arrives and it isnt right they have no problem taking them back. I have been extremely impressed by SWFA's customer service.

I concur with the aforementioned suggestion. SWFA will back it up.

Bobby,
Thanks for the info. I have pretty much decided on the SWFA scopes, I like the 3-15x42 and the 10x42.They will be replacing a Leopold 6-20x50 Mark IV with MilDot, which I have mounted on a Savage Model 10 heavy bore 308. The scope is fine just never impressed with the turrets

You are aware you can trade in a used scope, right?

I still would very seriously suggest the 5-20x50  buy once cry once.  I do like the HD 10x but like a bit more magnification. I love my fixed 16 power SS.  I also have a MK!V Leupold and find the M1 knobs clunky but  what can I say one day I hope to have a US Optics with EREK knob.

I have two 3-15's, one 10x, and a 5-20. The 5-20 is the better scope by far, but the 3-15 is better than anything else in its price range. While the 3-15 does share compenets with the fixed scopes, the glass has at least been upgraded with different coatings than the fixed power scopes.
If it is tourist season, why can't we shoot them?
