Hey, I'm from Queensland in Australia, and I just had a few questions about long distance shooting.
I've just recently got my rifle licence and I've picked out my setup as far as I know how, but I wanted to create a weapon that is capable of shooting well over 1000 yards. Information on how to adjust the turrets to make this shot would be highly appreciated. My setup so far: Tikka T3 Varmint .300 win mag heavy barrel Vortex Viper PST 6-24x50 Bottom Metal Kit AI mags Harris short bipod Hardened chrome bolt shroud 20 MOA Picatinny rail 30mm rings Thanks Reece.

Sorry, I forgot to mention that I also wanted to know what bullet gr would work the best for those ranges. And also a bullet drop chart would be extremely helpful too.
Thanks guys :)

Try this... you can play with MV and bullet weight and find what works for you: http://www.jbmballistics.com/ballistics/calculators/calculators.shtml |

Ok thanks man :)
What grain would you use for punching out to 1000 yards and beyond? And the best factory ammo also. I just did up a chart for a 180gr FMJ winchester round from 100 - 1500 yards.

For the distances you are trying to achieve I would look at the "heavies".208 AMAX, 210 Bergers, 220 or 240 Gr. Sierra match kings. In my limited experience, it's not the bullet drop that hurts, it is trying to beat the wind! This is especially true when getting to the trans-sonic region of the bullet/caliber in question.

If it is tourist season, why can't we shoot them?
