Hello folks,

I have decided I need to change up my binoculars.

I have a very well loved but ancient set of Pentax 7x50. Sadly the other evening I realised I might well not be getting the best performance in field anymore. I run a Zeiss Duralyt 3-12x50 on my rifle which is a good scope if not a top of the line Swaro.

Out on the field I could quite clearly see 3 pretty dark roe deer through the scope but they were decidedly unclear through my Binos. So, I think it is time for a new set of Binos given we spend much more time glassing with binos than with our scopes.

Now, I cannot afford a top of the range Swaro, Zeiss or Leica so am wondering what would work in midrange scopes.

Anyone had any experience of Docter, Minox and Steiner binos?

Quite like 7x50 magnification but would think ~8x42 would be fine as well.

Any others I should consider? I perhaps value low light performance above all else.

Please let me have you thoughts folks. I should be in the US in April so might try and pick something up then.

ATB,

Scrummy

Leica Trinovid.Keep an eye on the SWFA trade list..... Of the 3 I would go with the Steiner,Doctors are great but they are old style and a bit on the dark side.Minox I only looked through a pair once so I can't really comment on,the other 2 I have owned.

There is a pair of Leica 10x42 Tivinoid for sale on the sample list now [SPL-18243] in the 1 K range.I own the same ones in 8x42 & they are dead on!

Thanks for that stick bow.

Has anyone had a play with the Kahles 8x42s by the way? In Europe they seem to be a good deal.
