Need some help with the correct riflescope.

1.  How practical is it to put a riflescope designated for a caliber other than .22 on a .22LR rifle?

2.  Asking because I've tested a lot of scopes in the 1.5'ish range to 7 or 8 and really liked the ill reticle, eye relief, and glass on the Burris MTAC 1.5-6x42 scope.  However, the parallax is fixed at 100 yards and the reticle is designated for a 5.56 - 7.62 round.

I would be shooting anywhere from 25 yards (home) to hopefully +100 yards (range).

Could I make this scope & reticle useful for the .22lr?

It wouldn't be my 1st choice for a 22lr but it'll work. Parallax isn't likely to be an issue on a low powered fixed focus scope because you're not zooming in all that tight and roughly 1/4" of potential parallax error isn't likely to be a deal breaker when shooting rabbits and squirrels. I'm using a Nikon Prostaff 3-9x40 w/BDC rimfire scope on one of my hunting/plinking 22s and it works pretty well and might be a better choice for you. Nikon has a calculator on their website to help you correlate ranges with the BDC bubbles.

If you decide that you can live without an illuminated retcle and BDC then take a look at Weaver's RV7 2.5-7x28 and Leupold VX-I 2-7x28 rimfire scopes.
