Hi,

I was curious.....I have read tons about these two binoculars over the past couple of years(?) and how some people love them and others don't care for them due to a curvy unflattened field of view, glare, and in several cases, lack of sharpness ( which some people fault Vortex with in all non Razor models).

I have experience ( own or owned) with 6ish x 30ish porros ( Kowa and Vortex) and a Steiner NightHunter 8x30 and a Sightron Sii 8x32.

I understand basically what to expect in the respective views for each format in terms of field of view, depth of field, and what the actual magnification feels like but my question is which one is the sweetheart in terms of largest, sharpest sweetspot and pure image quality?

I have heard/read some people ( optic nuts on forums) say that the little 8x offers the best image quality of any of the viper hd line. This interests me because I would have on paper expected the 6x to win. Then there are some who have benched alphas in daily tasks in favor of the view of the 6x.

I guess another way of asking is which one has better eye pieces since everything else should be the same, right?

I want desperately to see them side by side but can not find a local place that has both in stock and I have done the order two and send one back thing enough that I feel a little guilty for it somehow.

Also, which one is more like looking into a thick pipe and which one has more of a window feeling in terms of apparent field of view?

I was told today by my wife to pick out a pair of bins for an upcoming hiking trip for Christmas. Sweet! She doesn't understand $1k plus stuff but I can easily convince her of something in the $600 range. The hd Vipers came to mind immediately and both ought to soundly beat what I currently have in 30/32 formats.

She doesn't know I am long range angling for some $1k bins in 42mm also. Lol

I am mostly wanting to compare these two against each other.

I know someone will say I ought to beg it up to $ 800 and get the cabelas euro in 8x32 hd ( already thinking about it!)

Thanks

I messed up the title. For clarity, I am asking about the Viper Hd 6x32 vs the Viper Hd 8x32.

I have the 8x32... it's been exactly what I needed / wanted. To me, the sight picture is fine. FOV and image quality is very good. They have invoked zero eye strain and seem to be of very good quality.
If we're not suppose to eat animals...how come they're made of meat?

You're right DrPepper......the cabelas euro 8x32HD runs circles around the Viper HD and is worth the extra $$$.
