SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION REGARDING THE OPERATION OF LEUPOLD RX LASER RANGEFINDERS

Before you begin to use your new Leupold RX Laser Rangefinder, take a few moments to read the instruction manual.  Study the function of the rangefinder before you start to use it. This rangefinder offers a range of revolutionary features and is completely unlike any other rangefinder currently on the market. For this reason, it is critically important that you read and follow the instruction in order to get the maximum capability out of this product. For your convenience, a quick reference card is placed in the soft case, as well as minor instructions printed on the rangefinder itself.

If having trouble acquiring a range, or using some of the features of the RX Laser Rangefinder, please refer to the topics below:

Greater than 150 yard Mode (>150)- When this mode is activated, it allows you to range on targets beyond 150 yards, and ignores any clutter or targets at a closer distance. Targets ranged at less than 150 yards will return a no reading on the rangefinder display when this mode is activated. >150 mode aids you in ranging through brush to an opening. It will prevent you from acquiring any target closer than 150 yards. This mode does not increase the accuracy for intensity of the beam when ranging longer distance.  For this please refer to Last Target mode.

BOW Mode- The BOW mode provides True Ballistic Range (TBR) setting for archery. When “BOW” is activated, targets ranged beyond 60 yards will not return a reading in the upper TBR display. BOW mode is designed to allow for ethical, accurate shooting out to 60 yards. It will calculate the equivalent horizontal range when shooting up and down hill out to 60 yards.  Beyond 60 yards, you will still have the use of the inclinometer and LOS (line of sight distance) but no reading in the upper display. Both LOS and the inclinometer are displayed in the lower portion of the field of view, below the aiming reticle.

Clear Field™ -If you are not getting readings, and you are not sure what modes you have activated, check to see if “Clear Field” has been activated. To turn “Clear Field” on and off, press and hold both the Power and Mode buttons and hold for more than 1 second. If Clear Field was activated, this will bring back all the modes that you have activated back into your field of view. Check to see if you have any modes that should not be set for your conditions (>150, BOW, etc.) “Clear Field” allows you to eliminate modes from the field of view, giving you a clearer image.

Other useful tips:

-With the rangefinder powered on, press and hold mode and you will be able to see all the modes and where they are in the Quick Set Rotary Menu.

-When in the Quick Set Rotary Menu, at any time you can press and hold Mode for 3 seconds and it will return you to ranging mode.  If left alone, it will take 10 seconds for the rangefinder to return to ranging mode.

-For RX-III and RX-IV to return to factory settings, hold Set and Mode for more than 1 second.

Troubleshooting Questions:

Question:    Why am I not getting a range?

Answer:      a. Check that >150 is not activated

b. For line of sight distance, be sure that you are looking at the display below the aiming reticle.  TBR, BOW and Compass will display above the aiming reticle.

c. If in BOW mode, ranges will not read over 60 yards.  If in TBR for rifles, TBR output will not display past 800 yards. Line of sight distance will appear below the aiming reticle.

Question:    Which modes are activated?

Answer:      If the method of measurement and no other icons are visible around the field of view, Clear Field™ is probably activated.  To toggle Clear Field, press and hold Power and Mode together for more than 1 second.

Question:    How do I activate simple Line of Sight?

Answer:      This is always on for RX-I. To activate on RX-II, RX-III and RX-IV scroll through the Quick Set Rotary menu and set
