i'm not all that much into high power scopes , most shooting around here don't require all that much magnification and even 8x and 9x scopes seem sometimes "over-scoped".

i am in my old age im getting lazy and the thought that i can see bullet holes through the scope and make adjustments without bothering to look through a spotter or walk down range seems like a good idea.

one of my shooting pals who hunts coyotes had a couple of these BSA majestic 6-24x scopes and he said "hell if you try one and don't like it --hell i'll buy it from you!"
me being the skin flint i am didn't want to pour a lot of cash into a "plaything' so i ordered one online , not expecting much after hearing all the horror storys of "coke bottle glass"  and being overly dark flying around the internet.

the BSA "majestic" line is just under the BSA gold star in their line up. it is still an "expensive" scope by BSA standards. it is made in china like all BSA products.

the UPS truck ran yesterday and i got my new in the box BSA majestic 6-24x scope .

first off the scope is smaller than i had imagined -- i was thinking with 24x it must be like the "hubble telescope"--LOL it is only a couple inches longer than a 3-9x  and its weight while a bit heavy is around 1lb.

features -- it had a fast focus eyepiece, side mounted AO adjustment that goes 15,30,50,100,200,& 000. finger adjustable turrets . all adjustments are smooth with just enough friction to hold position. the turrets click by feel and sound, but it is a soft feel to them --i suppose time will tell if it is going to hold.

the glass is well exceptionally clear for such a low priced scope, and light transmission seems very good.

it is supposed to have 4" of eye relief. to me it seems a bit short of that -in contrast -the BSA turkey plex does have a full 4" of eye relief.

on mounting it did seem 'critical" on eye position. it took some fiddeling and moving the mount around 1/4 of an inch back and forth to find the optimum spot.

the scope has a pretty small eye box and a very narrow sweet spot . no shocker to me as i sort of expected it as the higher mag ranges tend to narrow the eye box a little.

the good news is that once  you got it set up proper and got your eye in that sweet spot you can scale the mag from 6x up to 24x and back again and keep your eye in the same position --nothing changes with magnification increase or decrease.

once all the adjustments are made to the fast focus and the AO the scope is amazingly clear and like the eye position it don't lose clarity with magnification and it is clear from edge to edge al all mag numbers.

it has a ballistic type of cross hair with notches for various ranges and cals, it does not have a re-set to zero feature . it has plain caps not the exposed tacti-cool ones like the BSA boss. i don't know how well the "hunter" range notches work. it is similar to various BDC types , not the worst or the best i have see --sort of a middle of the road approach to BDcs.

field of view is pretty good being 41' @6x , i nearly got the 4x one but it was only a few feet better than the 6-24 and i want to play with a 24x scope.

light transmission is a claimed 95% , i was expecting it to be dark after all these cheap scopes from china are all ways dark right?--LOL!

it was a dark overcast near dusk and i was out playing with the new scope 'peering into the pine tree thickets, the same patch of earth i test out luepolds, minoxs and vortexes -- @6x and i was thinking damn this thing is doing a good job as there is not much light left --hell i turn it up to 12x and watch it go black--

turned it up to 12x and WTF i can still see? turned it up again to 18x still can see--turned it all the way up to 24x and it did get a shade darker --but nothing like i expected it to. i could still clearly make out the pine straw the bark on the trees , hell @ 24x even insects could be seen on the trees--LOL

the light transmission on this scope is very efficient for its price class to say the least. the only expensive scopes i got to compare it to are leupolds, minoxes and vortex vipers --the bad news is their all 3-9x 40s, 2-7x 32s , 1.5-8x, 3-9x50s  were talking apples and oranges here as the lower magnification scopes are going to have an edge right off the bat and better glass.

comparing them directly 6x , 8x and 9x the name brand scopes are a shade brighter than the 6-24x , the el-cheapo BSA holds its own very well .

the contrast and resolution are good , far better than the banner 3-9x or the centerpoint/crossman 1.5-6x
not quite as crisp as the minox ,viper or even the diamondback it does seem to be in the ballpark as none of the big name scopes blow it out of the water they way the do the other cheapos.

were talking a 10% or less lead by the big guns -- i would say more like 5% or less mostly --you got to really look hard to see that "edge" most of the time.

the scope comes with the lifetime no questions asked warranty that carrys over to whoever owns the scope if it is traded or sold. don't know how good BSA is on this kind of stuff-- hope i don;'t have to find out!

another little thing the scope is rather "short" on W" and E" adjustments , it looks to have enough generally but if your doing anything "special" you might need offsets to get more elevation for really long range shots.

it it turrets hold up and it keeps zero BSA looks to have a winner --provided all the scopes they shipped are like the one they sent me.

don't know if i can "fully recommend" the BSA majestic as i haven't put enough rounds down range with it yet. i'm not sure i would put it on a hard kicking iron, like some of my savages pack rifles that come in at 6lbs might give ya a black scope-eye-- and they might kick it off zero too.

if anything the glass is better than the BSA "boss" it is clear through all the mag range edge to edge when you do your part with the AO.

if the damn thing holds up it is quite the scope for the $$---
