i recently bought one of those $50 special scopes from some online auction house , the deal was just too good to pass up. (LOL)

$49.99 shipped you get a 1-6x scope patterned after those dangerous game scopes , a pair of 30mm mounts , a set of lens covers and a spare battery for the illuminated mil-dot.

the mounts be trash--LOL

when the scope arrived i was thinking this has to be junk --no other thing can it be.

opened up the box and i was shocked-- this looks a lot like a "real"  scope! i'm thinking well for $49 the glass has got to look like a empty coke bottle .

looked down the tube @ 1x hell its pretty clear-- the scope has a adjustment ring and it works too, the zoom ring ain't too bad either  except the scope got a bit fuzzy around 3x to 5x then would clear up at 6x although it was a bit dim @ 6x it was good enough. eye relief was OK--about 3.5" i would say--

the scope was a little shorter than a "real" scope and its bell is pretty large. the illumination was red and green and it looked pretty good though slightly bright in red. green was about right for late evening rabbit punching.

the turrets seemed very tight but they would click with clicks you could feel and hear.

i was thinking this might be OK for a .22 so i mounted it up.

set it on the bench to bore-sight on a target 30m away. adjusting the turrets i noticed a " tighten -up and a get soft" like feeling in both of them . one of the turrets stopped working instantly  and the other froze and i dare to try to get it loose as i figure it will just break off--

it is a shame though cause they all most had a scope here , the outside of it was well made and the glass wasn't soo bad as previous low ball units i have seen.

i'm still not sure the cross-hairs ever moved--LOL!

only thing is what good is a scope with no adjustments?--LOL

i tried to return the thing but the fleabay type won't return my emails-- fricking typical--

if you see a dangerous game scope for peanuts-- do not  walk--- run!

the only markings on this scope are 1-6x 24E

+ 0 -

and made in china--(LOL)

this one is going in my junk box with an old  44mm compact 3-9x BEC that somebody gave me--

OK. but what would possess a person to even consider buying something like that? Just wondering. Send it to Dan (Kickboxer) and maybe he can shoot it with his Lott. LOL.

the scrap man offered me $0.11 a lb for it!

hell maybe the covers will  fit my PA 1-4x or mamba?--Loco

i still have a sort of absurd use for the thing.

i can mount it up as a test to see if certain AR-15 mount set ups will work OK with a 1-4x 24 scope.

mount it up and see if it bumps.

other than that it serves no other purpose.

yep you get what you pay for and sometimes even LESS--LOL!

Being cheap can get expensive.
I very much agree with this, sometimes look very cheap, but the quality is poor or there will be many additional costs. In particular, this type of gun is similar to the very sophisticated stuff. It is now drained away, Chinese products, re-buy a new one.

Oh well....no one can ever say that the guys are SWFA are snobby about optics!  We will test everything.  I myself am a habitual browser on ebay for old scopes.  I have bought lots of old ( and very serviceable ) Weavers on ebay for $50.
