I have a Bartlein barrel that I would like to be put on my rifle as well as having the stock inletted for a Surgeon DBM. Does anyone have any experience with a good smith that performs one or both of these services?

Bugholes.com. Greg does awesome work and is very fast

Chad Dixon at longrifles inc. is a perfectionist, especially if you are having it bedded. Check out his site here. http://www.longriflesinc.com/ His bedding jobs are a work of art.

You can give him a call for lead times, but he's been pretty good.

I may just go with him, I hope his prices are competitive. Do you know what he charges for a rebarrel? His website doesn't list prices.

Im rebarrelling a Remington 700 action and I was going to get my B&C stock inletted for a Surgeon bottom metal.

Although I am thinking hard about replacing it with a Manners MCS-TA and just ordering that inletted, but then those are pretty expensive too.

I think he meant a can of ether...spray into barrel before each shot.

Well, there's a reason bugholes is too busy. People are finding out he's really good. If he ever does come up for air, I can state my communication and dealings with him were top notch.
Reaction time is a factor...

I would add Karl Kampfeld @ Kampfeld Custom to your list of candidates as well...

http://kampfeldcustom.com/

I've dealt with him on several projects, and he's always done excellent work for me, on time, and at a reasonable cost. He is excellent to communicate with, and seems very honest and friendly.

This is more like what I was looking for, he offers the services I want and is closer to my state.

He says that he doesnt refinish barrels though, I guess I could email him about it. My barrel was scratched really bad when I pulled it out of the cardboard cylinder it came in. One of the aluminum endcaps (with really sharp edges) got loose and lodged itself between the barrel and cardboard and me, not knowing this at the time pulled it out anyway and got some really nice scratches all along the sides of it. Some are pretty deep.

What's your opinion about having the barrel maker do the rebarrel?

I dare bet Bartlein would know what they are doing with an install.  They would have super good equipment to do it I bet as well.  But I bet their wait time could be very long.

I think for now, ill just have my stock inletted for a Surgeon bottom metal, maybe have my stock bedded and I want to ask Keith if he can install something that will allow me to attach my sling to the left side of my stock since ill be carrying it a lot and the KMW Pod Loc on my Harris makes the second sling stud unuseable. I think they are called flush cups. Can someone correct me if im wrong? Im not sure what they are called.
