Hi Guys -
Looking for a scope to put on a .223 Varmint / Target gun - a CZ 527.  Its a lightweight mauser - synthethic stock, set trigger.  The CZ has an proprietary scope mount and comes with a set of 1" rings so would like to stick with them for now.  I put a spare Leupold 3.5-10x on the gun and it clears easily so  a 50mm might fit - but that may be pushing the clearance depending on how thick the bell is on the scope.  Better to stick to 40 or 44mm.   My goal is to get this rifle .5" group at 100.  Seems doable but will need a scope that is up to the job. Doubt I  will be shooting in twilight, expect 90% of shooting at paper. .

I looked through the sample list and found 3 - admittedly very different price points - that seem like candidates.

$100 The BSA 6-24 contender is less $.  I have never looked through or used one.   Think these BSA are used by airgun guys so these should be sturdy enough but the price is low enough its scaring me a bit.  It occured to me this could be a 30mm scope, but doesnt say.

$280 The Nikko targetmaster 8 -32 seems like a better quality scope.  I have read some faint praise on these here -net that its serviceable but will not be confused with a high end scope. Seems like the better choice.

$400 Burris 6.5-20 x50 fullfield II - not sure if this will fit, first of all. Also no idea how much better (or not) it is in comparison to the Nikko. Would appreciate comments.

Which of these would be recommended and second - are there other choices I should consider.   Budget is flexible to a degree.  Dont want to go over $300 but could go to $450 if there is a good reason.

Go for the Big Skys or the SIIIs. I've used fixed-power scopes on varmint rifles with no problem. I have a 4-16x Big Sky and love it. These are great deals; what gives, is Sightron going out of business?
btw: Is the SIII using the same glass as the Big Sky?
