I'm sorry guys, from the 5 pages I read through already I know this gets asked a LOT but I have narrowed my search down to 3 scopes. It will be used for coyotes, crows, stray cats and paper punching out to 300. Its going on an AR with a RRA 20" Predator Pursuit upper.

VX-III CDS 4.5X14X40AO
I was leaning towards the the VX3 just due to size and weight since I carry that heavy thing around a lot.

Nikon Monarch 4x16x44
I have the very same Monarch on my 270WSM and love it so I thought about just sticking with it so its the same on each firearm I pick up.

Bushnell Elite 6500 2.5x16x42
I just started looking at the Bushy. Never been a fan of theirs in the past but being able to dial all the way down to 2.5x really got me thinking

Glass on all 3 should be pretty much the same. (Of the 1st 2 I think the edge slightly goes to the VX3) I have never looked through a 6500 so any help there would be appreciated. I am out of the country currently and cant just go down to my local store and check them out. I currently have an off brand 3x9 on it and I def want more than a 3x9 so please dont recommend a 3x9

What do you guys think? What would you choose? Why? Any info on the 6500 would be appreciated as well.

Thanks

First off, i don't think shooting stray cats is a wise move, they should be delt with by calling animal control.

Are you really that worried about weight?  I know you mention that but youre already dealing with a rather bulky upper?  I am just curious.  With an AR you have to have an AR specific mount to get decent check weld so you'll have room for a 50obj that will help you in low light situations if you ever plan on shooting in those.   The Minox ZA5 3-15x50 gets good reviews and has glass very compariable to the zeiss conquest.   Given your scopes you listed and the price range here are a few I'd pick over any of those you listed.

I already have an AR mount on the rifle and you could def fit a 50mm on there. I have been curious about some of the higher end scopes from Vortex. I'm just wondering how those turrets would be out hunting. I could see them getting snagged on clothing and caught up in the sling etc. I am reading up on Minox now. I had never heard of them till I became a mbr on here.

I have a viper PST now, i don't think i'd ever worry with the turrets moving on me.  That  said a quick glance at them will confirm they are still on zero and youre good to go.  I've never had mine turn on me unintentionally, they are crisp and firm.

Would the glass in the Viper HS 4-16X50 be the same as the Tactical version. The more I look at the Tactical version the less and lees i want to mess with Mil adjustments

i think, keyword think, the glass is the same, Vortex does have excellent customer service though and would be quick to tell you if you really wanted a 100% answer.
