When you are dead, you don't know you are dead.It is difficult only for others.
It is the same when you are stupid. |

I hunted at the following camp that specializes in lion: http://www.leeuwbosch.co.za. They are located in the Kalahari.
I hunted sable antelope there and was lucky enough to take one on their 2,500 acre plains game ranch. I did not hunt lion. Lions are hunted on a separate farm. It would be VERY expensive to allow lions to dine on sable, roan and other pricey critters. A fellow with us shot a respectable lioness with a 338 Win Mag. Barnes TTSX rounds. The caliber was more than sufficient. They are required to release the lion 72 hours prior to the hunt - into an area of respectable size (although I can't recall the exact area). There is no guarantee. They bait the lions as in any other cat hunt. The accommodations were astoundingly nice. They were the nicest I've seen in two trips to South Africa. The food and service were remarkable. Of course, I was on cloud nine because I'd just shot a 43" Sable in the Kalahari... |
