Need some help – am considering these scopes for prairie dog gun – how do they compare? (is the Cabela’s even worth considering? It’s a lot cheaper than the rest - like half). Thanks.
Burris – Black Diamond – 8-32x50 Nikon Monarch – 8-32x50 Minox ZA5 - 6-30x56 Bushnell Elite 6500 - 4.5-30x50 Cabela’s Tactical Classic - 8-32x50 |

my buddy has the monarch, and at 32x, yeah you can see what your shooting at, but only just.
the bushy will have good glass, but their CS blows, as does nikon. the burris will probably be pretty good, but that high of mag will probably blur.. a lot like minox around here. this would be my choice, depending on what reticle you want http://swfa.com/Sightron-8-32x56-SIII-30mm-Riflescope-P45298.aspx |

Of that list I'd go with the minox.

Not to make life difficult for you, but have you considered the Sightron SIII? Some of the more knowledgeable people here feel it is one of the best scopes to be had in that magnification range.

Minox probably has the better glass, but is a fairly new scope, so there is not a lot of info I have seen on it for field use yet.

The minox ans sightron sound the best to me. I have two of the 5-20x50 Super Snipers and like them. Not sure I would like higher than 20x you really would have to set up with sand bags if you get to 36x

The SS will be better than the other mentioned. I have the SS, a BD, and Bushnell, and have looked at the Nikon. The SS wins hands down over these. Never looked at a ZA5, so I can't comment there. I like the FFP better than the SFP scopes as well. Any range you are going to shoot a varmint at, the SS will do at 20x.
