I bet your OK, getsome.  Did you just use the short end of the wrench?  Depending on the surface of the action, there could be some metal to metal contact

Yes, I did use the short end, and not a whole lot of pressure.  No big deal, If its not perfect I just hope it bonded well and in big enough areas to be stable, I put some pretty good slots into the bottom of the base.  I was having some pretty bad vertical stringing before I did this, and was hoping this was the cure.  Also just mounted in a Bell and Carlson Medalist stock, so I have high hopes once again.  Tomorrow will tell.... Cheers!

Nicely done video Matt that had to take some time and editing! ExcellentExcellentExcellentExcellent

I've been reading up on different bedding techniques and am about to bed my first stick using the Devcon plastic steel.

Being the chicken I am, I'm starting on a $25 yardsale boltaction 16GA.  Action and barrel thermselves are in decent shape but the stock has seen better days.  Action keeps sliding back in stock and every 3-4 shots you have to reposition the action or she won't go bang.  If I screw up I'm only out a $25  sears special....

Ok, so far from perfect... and next time i will use a little more Devcon and not squish out so much , but I think I will try this and see how she shoots.  Thanks for the video and all the help Matt.

Ummm, I see a nice gravel driveway, but no rifle...
If it is tourist season, why can't we shoot them?

GetSome,

It looks like you did it right to me, but that is just a high spot on the receiver.  It is hard to tell from the pic, but if the transition from epoxy to metal is smooth, you should be good.  It is like the pillars showing through the bedding on a stock job.

The rear actually looked pretty good, the void is in the very front.. I think caused by wax coming out of the foremost hole where there is nowhere for it to go because of the barrel being under that hole ... I think, anyhow thanks again for all the help I'm going to run it and see what happens since it is a pretty smooth transition, and pretty thin on the bedding up front.

I really like your video and found it to be informative, I have also read over Murphy Precision's instructions on bedding a base.  The main difference is that you applied the release agent to the action, while their instructions only tell you to use it on the base screws.  I realize their method is so that the base is permanently attached to the action.  Is there any benefit too this?  The only drawback that I can think of is that it is permanent.
