Glad you are seeing some improvement.
The 110 Nosler AB would be one of my considerations, if you have some handy

Ernie & Pyro

I think I'm gonna make work with what I have right now.  I've spent waaay more than I planned in the last 2 weeks.  So much for reloading to save money Belt Fed  oh well...I'm hooked.  When I get the funds built back up a tad, I'll start tinkering around a little more.  I think I'm on the right path with the R22 for the 25-06.

Thanks again for all of the help.

Components are pricey.
Take your time and enjoy the process.
Over time I have built up stock of the type of bullets I use the most in what are my primary calibers: 6mm, 6.5, 7mm, and 338.  When I get a new barrel/gun, then I can try a variety to see what it likes.  Again, that took time and moneyBig Grin

No problem.  I've got plenty of bullets to get me by for my hog hunting trip in March.

I may have stumbled onto something last night...I remeasured the chamber on my 25-06 and I must've screwed up the first time cause it measured about 0.03'' deeper than last time.  That might explain the big groups I've been getting.  I'm heading out to shoot this morning so I'll see if that was the problem.

280 I use 160ge accubond adn H4831SC. I can't think of the charge. It works really well in this rifle.

Nice shooting.

I finally got a 1'' group with the 25-06 yesterday.  Hopefully after I play with the seating depths, I can tighten them up a bit.  If not...I may switch to H4831.

What's the difference between H4831 & H4831SC?

Nevermind...I guess it means "short cut".

you are correct. The kernals are shorter. Example, 168 gr 300 win mag load calls for 75gr H4831 that is compressed to a point with the non SC powder. With the H4831sc and 76 gr I have room to add 3 more grains or so ( don't doing it) . Burn rate is the same.

I went back and remeasured for COAL of my 280 and came up with a different # than the first time (used the dented case/colored bullet method) and came up 3.313'' as opposed to 3.246'' the first time (that's a 0.067'' difference).

According to the new numbers...I've been seating the Barnes bullets 0.113'' off the lands and the GameKings 0.031'' off the lands.

My question is...since I've been getting some good groups, should I just disregard the new measurement and keep going as I have?

I'm thinking I might have to pick up a gauge since I don't trust my numbers at the moment.

As a principle when reloading 25-06, it OFTEN shoots best with maximum, or near maximum loads. 115-120 grain bullets in a 1/10 twist barrel stabilize best with MV of 3000fps or greater. My best luck comes with powders such as 4831, Retumbo, Norma MRP,RL19 or RL21. It seems individual rifles have their own preferences too. But boy do I love that 25-06!
