SWFA has a used Leupold 4x28 FX-II on sale for $229.95. This seems like a really good buy on this scope.

I run a 1x Burris on one pistol and an Aimpoint 9000L on the other the Aimpoint is a very satisfactory choice if you will be hand holding it without a rest and shooting at game. With a 4x you will probably need to brace it against a tree or something. I have also had a 2x and really prefered the 1x to the 2x but if you hunt from a stand or have a solid rest you can use more powerful scopes.

Thanks for the input, I will get the Bushnell for him. Dad has an aimpoint on it now and wants something with more power.
73 years old and he is still climbing into tree stands- I hope I age that well! Sal |

We all hope we age that well - Good for him. Make sure he has a fall restraint system he will use all the time. I find that I dont enjoy fighting my way into the typical harness but I use a riggers belt called the Operator Belt made by 511 that combined with a short piece of rapelling rope and two carabiners and a screw in heavy screw in stainless eye or anchor to a limb works for me. That way if he falls it wont be all the way to the ground and its easy to use and not cumbersome so he will use it.
