Took the Mamba to the range to zero. My one complaint about this scope is their is no visable elevation adjustments. IE, Up or Down arrows like most scopes have. Not a huge deal because I was able to figure it out but I think this might save some people some time in zeroing the scope. At least people like me who need reminders like thatBig Smile

Once I got the scope zeroed at 100 yds it was dead on. Nice grouping with my AR. I really like the recticle on this scope. I have yet to play around with the BDC since my range only has a 100yd rifle range. There is another local that I will hit up one day for 200 yrd BDC test.

Overall this is a great scope/mount combo IMO. This is the 3rd 1-4x scope I've "tested". The Burris Tac 30 had the best glass but I found the recticle to busy and not as "fast". My other experience is with a primary arms 1-4x which was a great scope but lacked any BDC turret or BDC recticle. I noticed Muellar just came out with a 1-4x scope with an introductory price of $160. No mount included.

Another day at the range. I decided to set the BDC recticle now that I had it zero'd at 100 yds. Loosened the set screws, set it to 1 for 100 yds, and fired. Bang. No loss of zero. Still on at 100 yds! I have yet to shoot it at 200 yds because the range I'm a member of us only goes out to 100, but I plan a trip to another range that has 200 yd targets to see how it does. I'm sure it will work as advertised.

You dont need arrows to tell you whether your dialing elevation up or down.  Just look at the numbers.  If the numbers are increasing, you are dialing up.  Numbers decreasing, your dialing down.

Just to follow up now that I have most of the 2012 INMG series under my belt.

This scope has been the bees knees since I put it on.  Initial zero was set @ 100 yds per the instructions.  I've had the opportunity to ring this scope out from point blank to 300 yards.  I can only say WOW!  I can't believe that I can walk up to the line at 300 yds, crank the BDC turret to 3, and hit multiple 8" targets.  Then, crank it back to 1 and use it for everything from 100 yds to point blank.  (same for the 200 yd line.....crank it to 2, hit my targets, then reset to 1 for short ranges)

I never use the illumination during the day.  The un-illuminated recticle seems to be sharper without is during the day and really isn't needed.

For the money, this is an EXCELLENT scope and has been serving me well.  The ONLY thing I don't like is that the knurled eyepiece on the back of the scope isn't suited to Butler Creek scope caps.  The front fits fine and seals well on the smooth body of the scope, but there is no way to keep the rear cap sealed from dirt or water entry with those deep knurls.

Maybe you could fill in those notches w/ some sort of adhesive/sealant. I use E6000 for all sorts of odd problems & applications.
I've been looking at this Mamba, but maybe I'll wait till they re-design that ocular ring.

Question for the board : How would this Optisan product compare to the now out of production Weaver Classic Extreme ; vis a' vis overall durability and quality of glass ?

Another trick is to wrap the eyepiece in electrical tape to create a smoother surface for the BC caps to fit.

I purchased two of these scopes on the same order, they arrived in the same box.  The look very promising, with one very odd exception.  The magnification adjustment rings don't match each other.  They both start with 1 and end with 4 and have the same indices, but the spacing between the indices are very noticeably different.  One, when set at "1" has "4" at about 7 o'clock; the other when set at "1" has "4" at just shy of 6 o'clock.   Otherwise everything is identical except the serial numbers.  Just a different production lot?

There is a reason they are "inexpensive."

Now that these have been out for awhile, has there been any final verdict on their quality, one way or the other?

Would have to say I have never spent this little money and gotten such a great value.

I think the mount makes it just insane.

Well still have had no failures with this.

Working well.

Did they stop making these or did SWFA just stop selling them?

I ran this on a endurance test and it took 200Plus F with no issues as bell skin temperature for what is worth.

Still Zero still clear still seemingly solid.
