This is my first post here at Opticstalk. I just bought a Browning A Bolt II in 30-06 and I ordered the Browning Integrated Scope Mount System. It looks a lot like the Talley light weight mounts. I have also considered the DNZ Game Reaper mount. I liked the Browning setup with ring/base combination for ease of mounting and fewer pieces. The Browning is still a two piece system(front and rear). The DNZ is a one piece system which would probably be a stronger system. It looks like a well made mount since it starts as a block of aluminum that is CNC milled. Is the DNZ a bulky, as far as size, mount? The DNZ also has fewer screws and they are hardened. Does anyone have any experience with either mount? I am still waiting for the Browning mounts and I can return them, if need be. Thanks for any input.

Welcome to the OT.

Either mounting system will serve you very well... preference... do you want a 1 piece or 2 piece.  The limiting factor with either is that they are not conducive to rapid/frequent scope removal/changes.  If you intend to put it on and leave it, those mounts are great.  A gunsmith I use sometimes has high praise for the Browning integrated mount system.  I've gone to Picatinny rails on almost all my rifles, but that is due to my propensity for change...

I suggest you sit down, make a list of pros and cons for each, then choose based upon your evaluation.  What you choose will be the "best"...

If you look real close I think you will find Talley written on the end of the bases on the Browning set you bought.  I bought a set for my X-Bolt and they are marked Talley on the ends.  I prefer the 2-peice just because they allow more room to single feed when I'm at the range.

I'm sure the DNZ mount is durable enough, but the damn thing just takes over the whole receiver of the rifle, IMHO.

I'd stick with the Talleys, as magshooter has done. Talley = quality

I, like KB, run a pic rail because I'm a hopeless scope whore and keep switching back and forth. Sounds like your rigging up a dedicated hunting rifle.

What scope are you going with.

I prefer the Talley lightweight and would not be surprised to find that the ones from Browning are made for them by Talley.  The main thing I notice when I look at the DNZ is they seem to only have one screw on each side of the ring where Talley has two for a total of four screws holding each ring around the scope with even pressure.  There is a little t handle torque wrench that Warne makes that I use to tighten the screws with and it is fairly reasonable in price. I have had very good luck with Talley.

Thanks for all the replies. I had those same concerns about the DNZ mount taking over the reciever, cheaptrick. It is a dedicated hunting rifle and I ordered a Zeiss Conquest 3-9x40 with the Z-plex reticle. I am hoping to get both this week and mount them up.
