Bow   SWFA SS 5-20x50 Tactical 30mm Riflescope

I am now sick of looking through the scope and trying to find fault with it...

I counted the rounds I have put through the rifle with the 5-20x50 SWFA SS sitting on it....

A man for each 100 spent cases now to the reloading bench I am done shooting my wad(s).  Not all shown this is day 5...

I again am tired of shooting this rifle and scope combo for some time, I will mount the scope on another rifle and try to find a new home for it...

Pics to follow of the new setup I choose.

Update, I found one big problem, I unmounted this scope and put it on another rifle, hence I have a big problem, I need one to put back on the other rifle.

Their is no other scope that will be able to hold a candle to this with its features and ease.

Yep. Sounds like a real problem, all right. Thanks for the great info.
I just have the 3-9 and it outshines so many of my other scopes, I'm reluctant to even think about the 5-20, because I know that I'd have to start yet another round of selling off scopes to pay for the upgrades. Now that the ideas in my head, might do it anyway. Gotta get my mind off it...

Man oh man That SWFA SS has created so many problems for me I had to get rid of a whole bunch of other scopes last time.

If it is tourist season, why can't we shoot them?

Dear 338Lapuaslap,
I'm interested in your article, "UPDATE, Nice day at the range. Swfa 5-20x50. I have recently purchased this scope and have a problem with the illumination. Reading reviews, I'm seeing anything from good illumination at dusk and dawn to barley adequate. In my case I can barley see any illumination at all and nothing at all at any range lower than #8, and that's dawn till dark with a new battery. It seems that pictures were an important part of your article and I was unable to view them. Maybe due to the time that has passed since you wrote your article.
If you have any suggestions or impute, I would be very interested.

Thanks, Tom

Can't speak with too much experience with this.  I have one of the first few and don't know if they re-worked any of this or changed the concept.

I do not believe it was intended for daylight but rather low light to be able to pick up the center.

Anyone else here is more well written and well spoken than myself.

I don't use Illumination for paper punching.

I would wait for others to respond.

I believe this was a source of early discussions but have not turned mine on more than 2 or 3 times.

etsail have you seen this post? It is older but has some good info in it.

And I never use illumination unless it is a low light situation and I can not see the reticle without it.

The illumination on this scope is designed for precise work in the dark.  Like this:

If it's light enough out you can see your reticle, you don't need the illumination.  This isn't a 1-4 3-gun scope.

A few things that I have found overtime:

1 the turrets do not have a break in period what you get the first day is what you get for a lifetime...

2 the parallax adjustment has no break in period what you get the first day is what you get for a lifetime...

3 the windage adjustments are 1-2-3-4 1-2-3-4 but could have indicators of 1L-2L-3L-4L AND 1R-2R-3R-4R from behind the scope (I know it is on the side and easily remembered but it could be fool proof)

4 the mag range knob should not need to have a cat tail they could redesign this with some sort of more mechanical system or cut outs and texture feel.

5 the finish might cause some of the issues that I have had as far as slippery with just my thumb and index finger i feel the need at times to use 3 fingers and my palm a little.

6 the quality and ruggedness or beefiness of the scope gives the robustness of Nightforce a run for its money I would nail 10penny nails with this the quality of glass used is also better than Nightforce

7 the turret design is remarkable I am still impressed by the differences between this and other scopes

8 the illumination is not necessary for me and has been a long drawn out debate and discussion, this is not a source of contrition for me However I could say that the idea it is in recessed on the parallax adjustment even though entirely separate and the parallax is so darn stiff that maybe they could look at improvements of design and execution on further models, I have never mistaken either for the other but I have only turned on the illumination 1 time and rarely touch parallax adjustment.

9 the combination of the of the ruggedness and the components used make this scope a little weighted but hey I lug around 15lb-30lb rifles all the time doesn't matter to me...
