I just picked up a Nikon ProStaff 2-7x32 "Shotgun Hunter" on sale at a local big box outdoor-type store thinking it might do well on my 10/22.

I don't know what makes it a shotgun scope other than the parallax is set at 75 yards (perfect for 10/22?).  It has a Nikoplex reticle, so no problem there.  Any reason this won't work very well on a 10/22?

Sale price + (long retired) military discount + gift cards made it almost free, so I hope no one comes up with a reason I haven't thought of that will make me return it.

Thanks.

no reason it won't work. I used a shotgun scope on a 10/22 for a while.

+1, should work just fine.

Just an FYI, Nikon has a ProStaff 3-9 Rimfire scope coming out very soon. It is  parallax free  down to 20 yards.  Has the BDC reticle for accurate shooting out to 150 yards.
Make sure you check out Nikon's Spot On webiste to enter your 22LR ammo into the program to get the correct distances for each BDC circle. Using Spot On is Free in case you haven't looked at it previously.

That scope will be fine on your Ruger. I use 4x scopes set @ 100 yds on .22's with no parallax issues.

It should work fine. The only thing I can think of besides the 75yard parallax setting is that some shotgun scopes have a lot of eye relief.

That Nikon Prostaff 2-7 has a Parallax of 100 yards and eye relief of 3.8 in.
I haven't used it but will get a chance to sling dome slug down range in 2 weeks.
Should be interesting.

Enjoy.
