Earlier I said I have bought a Savage Model 12 FVSS in 22-250 with a Nikon Buckmasters scope what would be some good rings for this combo. I dont want to pay an arm and a leg but I still want something good. Leaning toward Leupold.

If I didn't have a box full of old Redfield type mounts, I would get a set of Talley one piece lightweights.

I've got a Savage 12 in 22-250 and it has a Ken Farrell one piece base with Burris Signature Zee rings and Bushnell Elite 4200 6-24x40MD scope.

I've been very happy with Ken Farrell's bases all in all, but I have also always done well with Warne Maxima bases and rings as well as Burris Signature Zee rings (I like those inserts).  I also have a couple of sets of IOR 30mm QD rings that are quite nice.

I've tried a bunch of different rings from Weaver, Millett, etc. and I ended up standardizing on Weaver/Picatinny type bases and Warne rings on rifles with recoil and Burris SIgnature Zee rings on rifles that do not kick.

Well, my favorite hunting rings/mounts are probably Conetrol. They are expensive.

Talleys, as Dale suggested are good too, though mine were not aluminum, but steel.

Loopie rings have worked well for me, even on high recoil rifles. I have no complaints, but there are better options.

If at first you don't secede...try..try again.
