I like leather for all my concealment needs. I use mostly Alessi with some Null and Milt Sparks. It is comfortable and holds my guns close. Good leather, like the top Kydex, does not need active retention. The good stuff is also expensive. If you drop the coin on one good CQC pancake type you will be covered for most needs. In the summer I go IWB and all of them are leather. Yep, combat tupperware and dead animal skins are a good marriage for me.

http://remoraholsters.com/
For a holster that will work for you that doesnt cost a lot of money the remora holsters are a new type that most wont be familiar with because it uses the rubber surface dimples on the material to secure itself within the inside the pants type carry yet has no outside belt loop to give away the fact that it is there.  Have pants that dont use a belt it still works.   The Milt Sparks holsters are the top of the line carry holster and    Browne lls   has them for glock and 1911 but you have to speical order for other styles.   For those of you who carry a variety of handguns you might want to try a Remora it's cheap and well worth the $ for the versitility if offers as they are not cut so tight that they will only work with one model of pistol I have one made for a Glock 23 and have used it with Glock 35 glock 21, & 1911 Govt.  Still the 1911 Milt Sparks holster rides low in the pants inside the belt and is extremely concealable.   I suggest you carry inside the pants as it conceals better that way and I can wear a shirt tucked over it or untucked any time of year and nobody knows its there untill its way too late.

http://www.fist-inc.com/holsters
I'd try these guys first.  The have both very good quality and lead times.  Most the the holsters I have from them are about 80 dollars with the options I get, like retention screw, extra leather at the top, and a sewn bottom.

I used to use Milt Sparks, but the lead times got funny.  Fist makes a better OWB concealment holster than anybody else I've found.

I have just gotten two IWB holsters in the past ten days.  One from Kramer and one from Leather Arsenal.  Leather Arsenal took about 7 months... I ordered from Kramer and they were 8 weeks and a couple of day shipping.  Kramer does horsehide.  That holster is built like a tank and is just starting to break in.  No break in required with the leather arsenal cowhide.  Both are comfy to carry.  Kramer uses no snaps, only Chicago screws.

There is a whole love hate thing going on with the serpa. Many training schools do not allow them.  I see no need for something inside of the trigger guard. To me that is gilded invitation to mister Murphy.  The holster should be fit to where that is not an issue or have a tension screw to adjust as the holster wears.

Get a serious belt.  That means a 2 ply leather gun belt or something like a Wilderness instructor belt.

any of you use crossbreed holsters? they make a holster for the xdm. i checked out xd talk today, to see what guys are using with the xdm's. the way it lookes the xd and the xdm cant be interchanged in the holster dept. crossbreed supertuck was highly recommended on that site, as was the comp-tac.

I've been waiting on an atomic dog holster now for over 6 months, if and when i get it I will let you know how it works with my CZ, they make them for  the XD and XDm and they are molded to the gun.  Should be nice for wearing on days I am not carrying concealed

It don't matter they still work, it is only 1/2 an inch.  I use mine in Blackhawk, bladetech and a leather holster that are for 4 inch.  It works just fine.
