I'm putting together another AR-15 for a coyote/predator calling rifle. Since I need to buy glass for the rifle anyway, I'm doing a temporary conversion of my other AR-15. I'm pulling off the EOTech and installing either a Leupold VX-II or Vortex Viper 3-9x40 scope. I really like the American Defense Mounts, but I'm not sure I really need to have a removeable scope mount. Plus, I'm hoping to get away with something for a little less money to start out. I'm looking for a mount that puts the axis of the scope at the standard 1.5" over bore. Any suggestions? |

The SWFA SSALT Mount is a great mount. Not sure about the exact height but it gives great checkweld. There is also the Nikon M223 mount that has cant built into it if you need that. Burris PEPR mounts are good. and several others. Depending on your budget look at the adaland mounts. they are as solid as they come I have heard. all these are availible right here

I just mounted a zeiss 44mm scope with swfa medium rings....seems like a good height (you would probably like high or extra high better though) and close to rails and rock solid. I like the 1" inserts too. Id give the rings or the ssalt mount a try... i was quite impressed.
