Long term I would go to talley lightweight ringmounts rather than the Weaver mounts you can do it yourself and be fine just pick up one of the little warne troque wrenches for tightening the screws.
Might try Winchester Power Max ammo I had good results with that.

Finally got the accuracy I was looking for and just did a lot of practice after in different positions. Next Monday is opening day for 49 and I'm confident in my shot and my limits. Man I wish I had a tag...
If it is tourist season, why can't we shoot them?

I shoot 165gr Barnes VORTX out of my 300 and I have a 1/2"group at 100 all day with that ammo. It's a little pricey for production ammo, but definitely has hand load accuracy! I'm sure even the 180gr will do the same.

Earlier this fall I picked up a Sendro 300WM and loaded 165 berger VLD for this season. The rifle shoots them really well cuttin clovers at 100yds. Took it last Monday for one of the few hunts I've made this yr. Had a couple doe line up at 250yds and dropped them both with a single. Both neck shots and dropped in their tracks. It's just one shot but the Berger is looking mighty good so far.
I love my 270 but a 300wm with a Ziess Diavari 6-24X56 is got to be one of the best set ups a guy could have. Range it, dial it, Shoot it! Life is good.
Take care of Soldiers, Show em how its done and do it with em, Run to the Fight & and hold your ground! I die my men go home! If you're a NCO and this ain't you. GET OUT! GOD BLESS AMERICA!

i had the same problem with my ruger 300, it had that stupid skeleton stock on it. switched the stock with the boyds, and glass bedded it, groups tightened. worked up some handloads, and a timney trigger, and it shoots sub moa @100, and around 4-5" at 750, with the factory barrel.
