Some time back I posted a question of what range finder to buy and the over all response here was LEICA. And after looking in to their offerings I do Leica the Leica's. But the big question here is; is there any diff in performance from one to the other. I hardly ever consider shooting out past 500yrds and their 800yrd offering is way more in my price range. What about other brands in the shorter range offerings. Does anyone offer better at that price brake. I would love something that would cover both my rifle and bow needs afield.
Enough is to much.

Please try not to over load me with information here LOL!  Are all Bushnell's offering what you are recommending? What about the new Nikon offering?

Big Smile

I've never used the Nikon's but I have used the Bushnell Yardage Pro's. I thought they were great products until I moved onto Leica. The one I had was fairly quick and could range things up to 800+ yards. I would consider one again or maybe the Bushnell Scout if I had a smaller budget to play with. Nikon makes nice rifle scopes so I would venture to say their rangefinders are probably pretty good too.

Its hard to beat Leica's RF from all reputations and reviews.  You can get cheaper but I'm not sure better.  What are you looking to spend?

I really wouldn't say that there is a limit you know like $1000.00. The thing is I don't want to spend that much and if I set my sights on something that expensive it will take a lot longer to save for.

What I would like is a range finder is one that will read accurately and reliably what ever I point at out to 800yrds. And if possible include a good angle compensation system like the ARC or TBA etc.
Enough is to much.

Thanks I will have a look before committing; at this point I am leaning towards the Bushnell Legend 1200 or the Bushnell Fusion Bino's. Still got considerable research though.

I started with a Bushnell YP600 and then went to a Scout. Both had black LED's that were impossible to see in low light. Fog and haze affected their performance a lot. And when stalking mule deer I ran into a problem of not being able to get a distance while trying to shoot through a hole in a fence that was probably 18" in diameter. My guide handed me his leica rf and I shot through the hole and had a reading almost instantly.

Add to that, that the Leica's use red led's that can be seen in all light and their response time is almost instant ..........pretty hard to beat IMHO . Especially bowhunting where you can mark tree distances or rocks or whatever in very low light and be ready if one walks in on you at first light.

When I decided I wanted a rangefinder, I only went to look at the top shelf: Zeiss, Leica and Swaro.  I found a Leica CRF 900 for 430$ new on sale and am very pleased I waited.  Wouldn't get anything but a Leica in the future.

I have had a Bushnell Elite 1500 (non-ARC) for several years now.  It is a fine piece of equipment and it is a shame it appears that Bushnell is discontinuing or has discontinued it.

Pros:

1. Reliable ranging.
2. Tripod socket.
3. Good battery life.

Cons:

1.  So-so optics (but good enough to tell what you are ranging at 1200+ yards.
2.  Bulky.

My friend has the Leica 1200.  The Bushy beats it in speed and distance of ranging.
The Leica is truly impressive optically, and much, much smaller.

Not completely off topic so here goes...

Has anyone tried or had any experience with the Leica Geovid Rangefinding binos?

I'm not asking about the optics (this is a RF thread) but just the RF performance.

Thanks
