Does anyone know if these are shipping yet? I just got a new Heavy Barrell REM700SPS in 223 that I am dropping in a HS Precision Stock that needs one of these.
We measure it with a micrometer, mark it with a crayon, and cut it with a chainsaw.

They're shipping now, but a lot of backorders need to be filled. Still, it's a scope worth waiting for, especially this time of year. I'd call to see if you can get an ETA if time is a factor.

thanks for the update JonoMT. I am not in a huge rush. Hoping to trade a couple other scopes to upgrade to this one.

Jon,

Please see my Viper and Viper PST experiences in the below thread.

Could you please try to test your PST in a manner that would replicate a situation like I described in my thread and see if you experience the same problems?

In a nutshell, in late afternoon evening hunts if you are caught in a situation where you may be facing in the general direction of a low horizon to setting sun condition, that the scope has a lot of glare that transmits to the eye making a shot impossible. And if you don't mind, let me know how yours performs say in the last 5 minutes of legal shooting light at power above 8X.

Thank you Sir, it would be greatly appreciated. I really would like to know if others are experiencing the same issues that I am.

While some handle it better than others, no optic is "flare proof".  At the correct (or incorrecct, as the case may be) angles and intensity, the sun creates difficulties with any scope, most noticeably when the sun is low on the horizon.  Those scopes that are more susceptible require a longer sunshade and/or ARD, but under the right/wrong circumstances, it can occur with any scope.
Opinion,untempered by fact,is ignorance.

I agree with this. After spending some more time with the PST, head position seems to be extremely critical. My Leupold Mark 4s are much more forgiving.

Old thread, and these have been out for a couple years now.  Just wondering about the durability on a magnum rifle.  I know Jon put about 100 rounds thru it on a 300 RUM, so it will probably be fine on a 7mm Rem Mag.  I'm looking at a like new 6-24, Moa reticle.

I have the SFP 4-16X50 on a 7 mag, but it spent time on my 300 RUM also.  Zero issues.  Excellent tracking.

Jon A: Nice rifle. I have been looking at this scope and found this site/post via a search and was wondering what base and rings you used in the pics, also what height are you using as well.

Thanks,
Jones

So I have a question about the turret setup. I have a Vortex Viper PST 1-4x. I was under the impression that when you set your zero stop on the elevation turret that, the bottom of the Vertical 0 Line should line up with the Horizontal 0 Line. You can see it in the 3rd or 4th picture you posted that yours lines up with the maybe Horizontal 3 or 4 line. I just want to know that I am not missing how to do something, I set me shims in and have my zero set with the stop, just don't have the Vertical and Horizontal 0 lines aligned.

Okay it was the 7th picture you posted where you can see the lines.

Hello. This is my first post in this forum. I have had some great reading in here.

I am currently looking for a new scope to replace my swarovski 2.5-10x56 FFP reticle 4A.
This time I want a scope with mil dots so I was looking towards the PST 4-16x50. The PST has all the atributes I want - FFP, mil dot and matching turrets. Hearing some people say that the quality control at Vortex is bad and that they ship out to many scopes with flaws makes me uncertain though. I have also looked at the Bushnell Elite Tactical LRS 3-12x44. It has the Mil/Mil setup and FFP. Does anyone have any opinion on how these compare. Or other ideas on scopes with the same attributes in the same, or near pricerange?

You should post this question in the rifle scopes section. But to answer your question I would look at the SS 3-15. And there are a number of reviews on it as well here.

Thank you. I'm heading over there now. I've discovered that the IOR 2.5-10x42 is in the same price range as the Vortex PST FFP. Atleast in Europe. The IOR is a serious scope that feels much more like a professional tool. It has a little tube vision towards the lower end and it lacks paralax adjustment in the 2.5-10x but the glass is Schott. Very high build quality and glass in this, on par with Zeiss and Swaro glass.
