Handmade ground beef patties, topped with sharp cheddar cheese,
wrapped in a bacon weave.then the next step, add hotdogs as the heads, legs and tail.   Next step?

Place on an oven rack, covered loosely with foil and baked for 20-30 minutes at
400 degrees.  A little crispy, not too crunchy...just how a turtle
should be, no?

I tried it the other night.  It was in the oven for over an hour and the bacon never cooked.  I even put it on broil for 15 minutes and that damn stuff would still never cook.  Completely melted all the cheese out into the bottom of the pan, burnt the dogs and over cooked the hamburger.  When I finally took it out the bacon was like it is about 30 seconds after you start cooking it in a frying pan.  Weird.

I guess I am one crappy cook.

Did you use thin bacon or thick?  Thin bacon works better for wraps (at least that is what I have found).  I made the bacon explosion the other day, but used thick bacon.  Did not get anything close to crisp but the everything else was cooked.

It was ok.  Have better uses of sausage and bacon.  Just did not set my world on fire.

I've made the explosion before and it's good!  I didn't haev any tenderloin or backstraps to use so I just made the meatloaf and topped that with a generous layer of CHi-CHi's salsa before rolling and wrapping it!  I still wantt otry it with backstrap or tenderloin.
