Was wondering if anyone has used the Baraska 6x18x40 17 Hot Magnum Rifle Scope and if so what you thought about it.I just got a new Savage and looking for something in expensive to put on it. Also wondering if they make it in silver.

Thanks

Bushnell Trophy 3-9x40 comes in silver for under $80.  Not as much magnification as the Barksa but probably clearer glass to look through.

An airgun I had came with a lower powered Barska and it wasn't working for me. The higher I cranked it up the worse the "sight picture" became. There were no reliability issues for the brief time I had it. A word search for Barska here won't give much positive feed back. But there is some out there.
It does not come in silver that I can see.
Are you open to other suggestions?

Welcome to O.T.,
Doug

Bushnell and BSA also make scopes designed for the 17HMR.  I have the bushnell 3.5-10x36 on my 17 savage.  Very accurate for ghogs out to around 200yds.  I don't even use the BDC turret and I am not fussy on the adjustable objective.  Wish I had spent another $50 and put on a 3-9 that was a little clearer and without the A/O but for groundhogs and pigeons it works just fine.  Which savage did you get, I have the 93R17 FVSS.

Yes I got 93R17 FVSS picked it up today after the great waiting period.I have looked at the Nikon 3x9x40 but mostly going to shoot squirrels no G hogs here and am thinking I could use a little more magnivacation than that. Why do not want the A/O on the scope?

A/O might be useful on a better scope with more magnification but on my bushnell 10x doesn't seem to be a factor.  Maybe because its just a $100 scope I don't know, but have to keep the A/O cranked to infinity for all shots whether its 20yds or 150yds just to get a clear picture.  whatever you decide to get I'm sure you'll enjoy the 17HMR, loads of fun and probably the one rifle in my cabinet that won't ever be replaced.

Yeah at least you can afford to shoot it and can find ammo for it.

The Vortex Crossfire 6-24x50 with 1" tube has been performing very good for me this past year. For under $100 it has pretty good glass and it has been very reliable. It also has an AO that can focus down to ten yards.

Got 2 of those Crossfires on backorder from SWFA. Looking like May before I get mine. No hurry though. One's going on a Marlin 982 .22 mag, the other on a Winchester Wildcat varmit model .22  Really looking forward to getting them and getting them dialed in.
