I'm out of venison, so I used Black Angus hamburger, Black Angus stew meat, the last of the last hog I shot as stew meat, plain ole Jimmy Dean's regular sausage and made a big pot of chili.  Will be ready when the wife gets home from work.  Lookin' good so far, but I prefer game as the primary meat in my chili...

They are about 5 miles away, but I have about 1200 ft of elevation between here and there.  It would be an impressive shot...

Maybe the empty freezer would be a good excuse for a hunting trip somewhere to harvest some fresh meat?

It was good enough that my daughter asked to take some for lunch for school today...
That is HIGH PRAISE in my house...

That would have been a miracle in mine.  My daughter doesn't do leftovers and not big on meat.  Weird thing is, she loves meatloaf.  Go figure.

I will have to try mixing some breakfast sausage in my chili.  I do mix the hamburger and chunks of a roast like you did.  I had one chili recipe that you put a bar of hersheys chocolate and a can of dark beer in it.  It was delicious but the people around you the next day did not appreciate it as much.

+1 on breakfast sausage in chili.  Good eats.

That is indeed high praise KB.

I like masa flour in mine, my wife doesn't so we don't use it, though...
Alexandra is a true chili aficianado... when she was 5 she started eating jalapenos with me.  She is the only one of my children who ever would/could abide them.

A dip that would go well with alot of good meaty meals, or on its own was of my own creation. Take a can or Rotel Diced Lime and Cilantro, and a block of cream cheese, the ones about the size of a wallet, or cigarette pack, and heat them together on the stove, usually about 4 or 5 minutes, until all the cream cheese is melted. Make sure you stir it, or the cream cheese will burn to the pot, even non stick. Goes great with the Tostitos scoops. If you think this sounds nasty, try it and I guarantee it'll change your mind.
You don’t know what you don’t know.

And those who don’t know and never try, never will.
