I have narrowed my seemingly never ending search down to 2 pieces of glass. Either the Burris FF II 4.5-14x42 w/ ballistic reticle. Or the Super Sniper 10x. But I can't pick one. The scope would be on a 12fv with a duty of varmint control. P-dogs and coyotes mainly. But target shooting will be a constant. I probably wouldn't use the ballistic reticle on p-dogs. But I know I would use the mil-dot. I like having a sunshade. But the Burris doesn't have one. I need (read want) enough elevation adjustment to get a 75 grn. .223 out to about 5-600 yards. I will be using a Farrell 20 MOA base. I believe both would get me there. But the Burris would only do it with the Ballistic. I am damn tired of having to choose a new scope. I hope it is over now. All your expertise is greatly appreciated. |

It is better to have it, and not need it, than need it, and not have it.

Either one is fine. Versatility of a variable scope goes a long way in hunting situations, so I would lean that way.
For the money though, I would probably get a Sightron S2 3-12x42 with MilDot reticle. It has a larger adjustment range than Fullfield II and better glass. 12x top end should be sufficient for most anything you need to do with the rifle.

Personally I'd go with the Tasco if its strictly for varminting and
target shooting. If ya haven't heard about the New SS variables
comming out then you might want to check this out Super Sniper Variables

I love the new variables. But I can't wait that long for them to come out. Maybe if I got the SS now, it could transfer to an AR. But I would really only want one of those on my .308. I think I will be going with the SS. I've been eyeing it for a couple years now. Figure it's time to try it out. And it should be good for everything I need it for. I was going to get the Monarch in 6.5-20. But I figured I could put that extra $250 towards a new stock to replace the tupperware on mine. Thanks for your input! Matt
